Stoke City announced six new signings earlier today. They are as followed:
Lee Gregory- Millwall (Free)
Nick Powell- Wigan (Free)
Jordan Cousins- QPR (Free)
Liam Lindsay- Barnsley (£2 million)
Adam Davies- Barnsley (Free)
Stephen Ward- Burnley (Free)
Five of the new recruits were all arranged on pre-contracts, with the club wanting a new identity going forward into the long term future, whilst matching the manager and owner’s expectations for the club to get back into the Premier League.
It’s a very different strategy to the one former manager Mark Hughes had, smashing the transfer record on two occasions with the £12 million arrivals of Xherhedan Shaqiri from Inter Milan and the £18 million signing of Gianelli Imbula from Porto. It’s a risky move, but will it pay off for the Potters?
